High Plateau Humane Society is an all-volunteer animal rescue non-profit organization in Alturas, California. They offer low cost spay/neuter, immunizations, exam and euthanasia as well as dog and cat adoptions. They also operate the Second Chance Thrift Store. You can donate gently used items or shop the store.

A cooperative agreement between BLM and the Beaty Butte Wild Horse Training Facility, a non-profit organization, was created in efforts to resolve over population of Wild Horses in the Beaty Butte area by training removed horses for adoption.
